Proverbs 3: 5- 6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.
Isaiah 40:31 But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Phillippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ Jesus who gives me strength.
“How are you?” “Oh, I’m fine.” This is a common every day question with our standard answer that we often give or hear. But there will be days when we second guess ourselves and things can get a little rough emotionally, physically, mentally or spiritually. With all the many roles we play in our lives the time we spend giving to others can sometimes be a little overwhelming with being a Mother, Career Woman, Wife, Sister, Daughter, we can find it hard to carve out time for ourselves and our own dreams and aspirations. But if it weren’t for the Lord where would we be? For in fact he came to give us life and life more abundantly. When we hold this scripture near and dear to our heart we know that it is Christ who put our desires in our hearts and that we can accomplish all things through Him. By taking time for ourselves we in fact will be able to be more effective in all the many roles we play. As a psychotherapist I often suggest to my clients to write in a journal, meditate or even participate in yoga. With these particular activities you will create a space just for you to take time for yourself and begin a healthy and beneficial way of giving yourself the gift of you. Take time to breath in the moment like the saying goes “Take time to smell the roses.” Taking a second to mindfully take in the moment gives you time to slow down and regroup. Mindfully living gives us the opportunity to create memories, observe and gain insight. It is through our experiences in the journey of life that we become seasoned in our wisdom and is seen as the light of Christ shines through us. As we take time to grow individually we then in turn have more to share and give to others. Each of us was created with our own unique purposes and ability to influence others in our own way and by taking care of ourselves we increase our health and well-being making it possible to achieve an even more fulfilling life. Each of us were giving 24 hours for a day how much of each day do you give to yourself? You were wonderfully and beautifully created. Become your own best friend and enjoy time with you because it matters and makes a difference on how you do life.
